ILLUSTRATION

Character Design

A mascot can be a powerful tool for the right type of business. In some cases a well designed character can take the place of a logo becoming the face of a whole brand. We can turn you into a cartoon character, superhero, a villain or create you an alter-ego. We can design characters for your projects in many different styles. Maybe you need characters for a graphic novel or a book. Perhaps an advertising campaign or a clothing line.. Whether you have an idea of a look for your character or you want us to illustrate from scratch for you, we can create the look. As with all our design work, you will receive your illustrations in vector form and in any other formats you require.

Traditional Portraits

There used to be a time when black and white portraits often done in pencil adorned the walls of many homes – often chosen as the perfect birthday gift, a memento to last generations. You don’t really see a lot of photo-realistic portrait work these days, it seems to be somewhat of a lost art-form. Who knows why. Perhaps it is because in this digital age where everything is so readily available and easily created, many people just don’t see the point. While digital software can create accurate portraits in many styles, nothing can replace an artists eye and a traditionally drawn portrait captures something that can’t be reproduced with software. You have to put soul into a portrait before it can be brought to life.  But of course, if you prefer, we can do digital too!

Line Art

Line art is great for all sorts of projects and when done correctly it can capture the attention in a way that many other forms of artwork cannot. A well drawn piece of line art beckons engagement as it encourages the mind to embark upon a journey of discovery. This type of artwork although seemingly simple, forces the subconcious to search and often a cleverly designed piece can be used to convey a message in a way that is unparalelled by even the most striking of full colour pieces. It is human nature that we like to discover. Line art teases the mind, leading it down pathways of varying degrees of stroke and beautiful contours until the realisation of a message or a ‘bigger picture’ is reached.

Illustration for Print

We design for print. Any type of print. Publications, posters, flyers, stationary, clothing, flags… When it comes to designs which will ultimately be printed, an understanding of the various print processes is essential. The way in which artwork is conceptualised, designed and finalised for print is important from the outset in order to achieve the best end results. We have many years of experience in designing for print and can advise you on what you can expect from a printshop and what they will expect from you. We always work closely with printshops and can liase with your chosen printshop on your behalf if you prefer – often speeding up the whole process and in turn bringing you to your end result in a more timely and efficient manner.
